Giving Effective Feedback

A cheat sheet on how to give amazing feedback.

Your input is so important to this project. We may not get everything right on the first try and that’s okay. Here’s how you can provide us with effective feedback, the magic happens when your hard-earned skills and expertise come together with ours.

Here’s how you can give us good feedback:

  • Be honest. If you don’t like something, we need to know – now, not three weeks down the road.
  • Be specific. Point out what, exactly, is not working for you, and why it’s not working.
  • Ask why. If you aren’t sure what we were thinking, we’d love to explain our reasoning. Everything we’ve done for the project has a purpose.
  • Refer to your goals. Relate every piece of criticism back to your goals.
  • Relate to your audience. Your audience should be top of mind for every decision or critique that you provide. What do they need? What will they love?

Hey! I’m really excited to be working with you over the next few weeks. Before we get going, here’s how to make the most of this project:

You’re reading this in your very own Project Dashboard — this is where everything to do with this project will live. You can come here at any time and access all of your deliverables. This means you don’t need to worry about losing files, or keeping anything on your machine. It’s all here and will continue to be here for as long as you need throughout the project.

This is also a great place to see where we are in the project. Keep an eye on what phase we’re in to see if there’s anything we’ll need from you soon, especially during the Discovery phase.
